Stilettos and Diapers: December 2015

2016 New Years Resolutions

A big part of my 2016 is health. I'm really excited to refocus on not just physical health, but mental, financial and home as well. I picked 3 things in each area to focus on.

  • Mental
Stick to the Schedule - My days feel so much less stressful when I have a plan. I have a blog calendar and a personal calendar that I want to be more diligent about scheduling evenly. Which also leads me to another area:

Just Say No - I'm a total people pleaser. I hate to say no, but sometimes, it's essential. I have realized more in the past couple years that saying yes to everyone not only hurts me now. My entire family is affected by my decision to stretch myself too thin.

Stop Comparing - The baby who's holding her head up and, OMG! Lincoln needs more tummy time! The 4 year old that's sitting nicely in a restaurant with no electronics while mine is fidgeting with an iPad. The mom who made gifts for the whole class for St. Patty's Day. I love being that mom, but I'm not going to do those things if I'm already feeling busy at that time.

  • Financial

No Spend Month - I did this last year, too. It was a fun challenge, that also saved money, helped with impulse purchases and got me in a habit of not buying random things.

Budget - The Hubs has always been a budget man. He loves to "crunch numbers" and it literally makes my skin crawl when he asks me to do it with him. But, I have a kid starting college in 10 years and thats going to require some focus on finances and sticking to our budget.

Give Back - I believe in give and it shall be given unto you. Giving to church and people in need is a big part of our life and I want to increase it even more.

  • Home

Cleaning Schedule -  I was really good about this before having a baby and it literally saved my sanity. It helps keep the house in a constant clean. Not toys off the floor, but clean and laundry not all over my bedroom. It's seriously driving me nuts lately and I'm over it.

Closet Cleaning - I'm going to turn my hangers around in January and get rid of things that I haven't turned around in June. Then, I want to repeat June - December. The things that haven't been worn will be given away so someone else can benefit from them.

Make the Bed - This is a little embarrassing, but I've always been a part of the "I'm going to unmake it in 12 hours so why make it" club. But, I've noticed how much happier I am when I walk into my room and the bed is made. I'm going to aim to make it every day when I get up!

  • Physical

I left this one for last for a reason. It's always a big thing on people's New Years resolution lists, but rarely gets done. I'm giving myself some goals that are completely attainable and not depriving.

Eat Clean - I know, how cliche? I am committing to an 80% clean diet in 2016. This will probably mean a protein shake for breakfast, a salad with leftover protein or a wrap for lunch and a clean dinner. No carb cutting, no calorie tracking, just putting a focus on clean, unprocessed foods and adding in vitamins and supplements. The weekends will be free to be flexible and I won't be giving myself a hard time for a a little chocolate or wine. (I love my dark chocolate espresso beans!) This way the meals becomes a lifestyle, not a depriving diet.

Meal Plan - This keeps me on track so much. I shop for the things I need, I don't take as many random trips to the store and therefore am not so tempted to buy junk food. My family also loves seeing my menu board and knowing what is coming for dinner.

Workouts- Some type of workout 3-4 days/week - this can be a walk around the neighborhood, a DVD routine, a hard core gym workout or a long treadmill run. I just want to make sure I'm moving and being active. Also, if I have a night full of bouncing the baby and no sleep? Guess what. My workout is done.

CVS is a go-to place when it comes to my health. It's not just a pharmacy, but a place I can go to get a whole variety of items for a healthy body. It helps my sanity, too, when I can go into a smaller store and get in and out quickly with the kids. Right now, you can save 20% off regular prices and free shipping until 1/2/16 from! 2015 in Review

This week, I used that fun site that gives you a collage of your top 9 Instagram pictures of the year. Obviously, this one was full of my sweet little Lincoln! I decided to do a little recap of the year here, too. I always love looking back and am reminded of so many great memories!

January - We came home from New Years in New York and spent what feels like the rest of the month in bed. Between morning sickness and a wicked cold/flu thing, I was wiped! My favorite look was this one I wore in NY.

February - Just before Valentine's Day, we shared the news that #3 was on the way! After that, we had big snowstorm that left us snowed in and Coop out of school for 8 days! My favorite look of the month was this cape and layers for all the cold!

March - Started this month off with a trip to Georgia to see my family, where I wore my favorite look of the month. We had a visit from my friend Rachel and her hubby and built these cool DIY floating shelves in our living room.

April - Easter weekend started off spring break here and I somehow agreed to spend it camping. We found out #3 was a little man and went on a trip to Atlanta to see the Braves play the Mets. My biggest baby turned 7 and I cried like he was moving out. (pregnancy hormones!) My favorite look was this maternity poncho that I still wear!

May - We celebrated Cooper's Birthday a bit late, I shared all my feelings about being a boy mom and had a low key Memorial Day weekend here. My favorite look this month was exciting to be able to bring out the shorts!

June - This month made me realize how hard pregnancy in the southern heat is and I started making mocktails to drink by the pool. I collaged my ever growing bump, Cooper had his last day of 1st grade and we took off for the beach, where I wore my favorite look of the month.

July - We came home from our beach trip to a fun July 4th at home. I gave my tips for road tripping with kids before we took off for Charleston for a baby moon with kids! My favorite look of the month was this this one with my overworn white skinnies

August - I was getting nest-y and got to cooking healthy snacks, prepping school lunches and  packing my hospital bags. I wore my favorite look to school orientation and soaked up our last weekend before school started back.

September - The big baby month! I shared my concerns about a repeat c-section, Lincoln's first week and birth story. Since I didn't cook much that month, I talked about all my favorite Charlotte restaurants and got take out from most of them. Haha.

October - I was starting to get back to normal this month. Lincoln turned 1 month old, we finally got a king bed, I got back to posting some fashion, we had our first pictures as a family of 5 and we had a ton of fall fun. My sweet grandma went to heaven and we were able to go to Georgia and spend a few days celebrating her life and spending time with family.

November - Callan turned 4 and we celebrated with a Paw Patrol party. I turned 31 and my mocktails turned back into cocktails. I posted about my love of the Target Cartweel app and my favorite look was red suede and stripes. My family came for Thanksgiving and it was warm enough to go boating in November!

December - The Hubs and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We got a Christmas tree, decorated the house and made cookies and a plate for Santa. I got to get all dressed up for a Christmas party, but my favorite look of the month was comfy and plaidLincoln turned 3 months old and will be 4 months in just a few short days.

2015 has been wonderful to us. It will always be a favorite of mine, because it brought me Lincoln! I'm so grateful for all the memories that we've been able to create this year and can't wait to see the excitement 2016 has in store!

A Little Fashion || Rad To The Bone

This wild one of mine is always happy for a new outfit and to "take pictures like mom". Cooper went through a happy to pose phase, too, but has turned a bit camera shy. I just love having all the cute pictures to look back on!

I've been really happy with all the FabKids outfits we've gotten, including this one. They're stylish, affordable and you don't see tons of other kids in the same thing. I've also discovered that the quality is great, sine Callan is now wearing a lot of the outfits Cooper has passed down. They're having an end of season clearance sale right now, if you need to stock up for your littles!

Today started week 2 of school break and also like the 4th day everyone slept passed 8. It's quite miraculous. Now if my baby would just start sleeping longer periods at night, I might feel rested.

Happy Monday!

Pre Christmas Fun!

Before Christmas, there was a whole lot of fun, festive things happening around here! We went last week on the Polar Express Train. It was so much fun! The tickets sell out fast and are released in JULY here, so if you're interested in going, check your train stations early next year!
We got a family picture with Santa there, mostly because I wanted Lincoln in the picture and he was asleep in the carrier. It didn't hurt that they were all wearing matching jammies and my shirt just happened to coordinate! How legit is that Santa, though?
Lincoln decided that he loves the glow of the lights. I got some sweet relief for my back while he has napped in his Mamaroo by the tree.

He also started sitting up in his little bumbo chair over the past couple weeks and LOVES looking at the toys! His Christmas presents are both missing batteries, so he'll be really happy once I get out and get some today.
We've done a couple nights of light driving. These were from the Zoo and are really good. We usually go to McAdenville, NC, which is Christmastown USA. It is gorgeous and really amazing, but since it's really crowded, it takes awhile and Lincoln hates the car,
There were gingerbread houses and trains created, of course! Along with all sorts of yummy sweet treats.
I wore my Walmart shirt a couple of times. I never saw this movie until I met The Hubs, but it's one of my faves now! (After While You Were Sleeping, of course!)
On Christmas Eve, there were quite a few gifts under our tree, which made for even more stuff for Lincoln to look at. I've mentioned never taking the tree down to The Hubs more than once...
We spent some time with friends on Christmas Eve, where Cooper tried his hand at hover boarding. I feel like this is giving me a glimpse into his teenage years, making me nervous for his safety! Haha.

Last but not least, this Christmas season is brought to you by lots and lots of coffee. In cute mugs, of course!

Lincoln has been in a bit of a sleep regression and I've been trying to get so much stuff done that I'm tired! He did give me 4 straight hours last night, which were magical. I'm looking forward to this week of not much on the to-do list, but still having my boys home with me! We'll be celebrating Christmas again tomorrow with my Sis-in-law and her family when they stop here on the way home from NY. My boys are so excited to be seeing their cousins!

I've still yet to get the pictures of our actual Christmas off the camera. I only took several hundred. Ha. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with those near and dear to you!

Favorite Winter Skincare Products

Who's ready for winter skin?! NOT ME! I have super dry skin and my poor boys seem to have taken after me. I have to work really hard to keep my skin healthy, especially in the winter. I've struggled with it my whole life, but manage to keep a pretty good handle on it now. Only 31 years of trying...

Here are some things I swear by in the cold weather months!
#FindYourHealthy, Dry skin care, Moroccan Argan oil

Water. 1st and most important for me and something that seems really hard in the winter when it's cold. I try to drink my weight in ounces, which is a lot to drink. But, I see a huge difference in my skin when I drink it and when I don't, especially now with breastfeeding.

Coconut Oil. Can y'all tell I love this stuff? I cook with it and use it in the bathroom! My favorite way to use it is in a shaving cream. I mix 1 cup coconut oil and 3/4 cup sugar in a mason jar and keep it in my shower. It works as a shaving cream and moisturizer all in one! (Just be careful not to slip in your tub!)

Vitamin D. I take this all year long, but I think it's especially important in the winter when I'm not getting much natural vitamin D from the sun. It helps with the absorption of calcium, iron and other vitamins/minerals. Deficiencies have also been linked with eczema so as soon as my Dr. told me I was low on vitamin D, I started taking a supplement.

Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo + ConditionerThose Moroccan's know what's up with this awesome oil. If you've never tried it, get on it. It's highly moisturizing and has no sulfates or parabens. Those are in nearly every shampoo and they actually can dry your hair more!

Lotion. My hands are always needing extra lotion throughout the day. I keep this Daily Moisturizing Lotion on my kitchen counter so everyone can put it on. It's right on the way out the door, so it's easy for me and the little hands in my house to remember! I keep this Dry Skin Therapy in my purse to put on when I'm out and about.

#FindYourHealthy, Dry skin care, CVSSeveral of these specific products are CVS generics for other brands. I love that I can get great quality products at lower costs and still get the results I want to care for my skin. If you want to shop online, you can save 30% right now with code SAVE30 and get free shipping over $35!

I hope you're able to try some of these great products and see good results in your skin this winter!

Fashion || Red and Black Plaid Comfort

Lets just say it's a good thing I wore this outfit over the weekend, since it will be in the 70s here the rest of the week! I've spent many Christmas's in Florida and even some on the beach, but I don't think the Yankee Hubs knows how to handle a hot, southern Christmas!

I know I've told you how much I like these leggings before, but they're on sale for $29.99, plus 30% off and if you order by midnight, you'll get them before Christmas! So, send your man the link, or put them under the tree for yourself. :)

My usual early risers all slept until 8 this morning, so Christmas break is off to a perfect start!

Fashion || Christmas Party Style

This week, I went to a last minute Christmas party with The Hubs. His office here only has a few people that work in it, so they don't really go all out the the corporate headquarters do. It was a casual event, but a Christmas party nonetheless, so the sparkles came out. My boutique, Molly Suzanne, just got these sequin leggings restocked in black and in gold! I'll be rehearing them for New Years!

This year called for a new winter coat. While it's not exactly cold enough here to wear it, we'll get there. I did throw it on for our party the other night since it was rainy and a bit chilly. The one I got is the Berkshires coat from J. Jill. It has a stand up collar, so it isn't all bulky around my neck and is really nice and warm. I think it runs a little big, so size down!

Cooper just got home from his last day of school this year. I'm so excited to be home with my boys for a couple weeks and not have to set an alarm! It's been a busy past couple months and I'm ready for an exhale! Who's with me?!

Happy Friday, y'all!

30 Non-Candy Stocking Stuffer Ideas + Gift Card Giveaway!

Non candy stocking stuffer ideas. #FindYourHealthy

I don't know about you, but my pantry is overflowing with candy. We still have Easter and Halloween candy and now are on the verge of Christmas candy overload. The kids get it from everywhere this time of year, it seems, and it's the last thing they actually need. It's usually a go to for stockings, with aisles and aisles of tree shaped, santa wrapped sweet stuff. Now, there's nothing wrong with that and I do love those Reeses that are shaped like snowboarding snowmen. But what I really like, is stuffing my kids stockings with things that are far more useful and healthier, with a little side of sugar.

If you're stumped, here are some suggestions:
  1. Crayons
  2. Matchbox cars
  3. Socks
  4. Coloring books

We have, for a few years now, shopped at CVS for stocking stuffers. I got nearly everything on my idea list when The Hubs and I went on our Christmas shopping date. They have a really good selection and lots of healthier options, plus the Whitmans Sampler that I always hope to find under the tree. All about that healthy balance! I don't know about your kids, but mine are just as over the moon about new gummy vitamins as they are about their marshmallow santa.

Cookies for Santa, DIY Santa Plate & $300 CASH giveaway!

Today is all about a fun treat for Santa, as well as a DIY plate to serve him his goodies on!
Stilettos and Diapers: Toffee Nut Santa Hat Brownies

I'm teaming up with a bunch of my blogger friends to share great tips for Christmas! And because we're all so grateful for y'all, we're giving away $300 CASH for you to spend. Preferably on yourself. So once you get down to the bottom of this post, check out everyone else's posts and don't forget to enter the giveaway!
santa hat brownies, blog hop, diy cookies for santa plate

Let me start first by saying, this DIY isn't exactly infant friendly. Haha. I coated Lincoln's hand in green paint, while he challenged me with his little fists. It was a disaster. He wouldn't unball his hand and we ended up with a huge blob. But, I quickly got a baby wipe and decided to do it while he was nursing later in the day. Well, his hand was nice and open, until I put the paint on and tried to press it flat. What followed was a more hand shaped blob, at least, but then I had green paint all over my boob and shirt. But, getting my big boys prints down was very easy and quick.
Stilettos and Diapers: Cookies for santa plate diy

It will be lots of fun to look back on this plate in years to come, even with the tiny hand blob! It's extremely easy to make, which I'm all about these days. Outside of the baby handprint nonsense, it took about 10 minutes. You'll need:

Ceramic plate: Mine is an oversized dinner plate from Target for $4.99.

Acrylic gloss paint: Michaels has tons of color options.

Once your design is finished, put your plate in the oven, then turn it to 300 degrees. Leave in for 30 minutes, then allow to completely cool before removing. Voila! It's a plate for santa, a fun craft for the kids and a keepsake for you to get teary eyed over when your kids leave for college.

Now, what are you putting on that plate? Santa hat brownies! These are super easy and will seriously impress your kids. Or the party you bring them to.

Toffee Nut Brownies:

1 box brownie mix, prepared according to package instructions

1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup toffee bits (Heath)

Make brownie mix according to package instructions. Pour half the batter in a greased 9x13 pan. Sprinkle almonds, chocolate chips and toffee bits in pan and top with remaining batter. Gently smooth with a rubber spatula and bake according to brownie instructions. They will usually take a couple more minutes with the filling, but watch them!

Stilettos and Diapers: Toffee Nut Santa Hat Brownies

After baking, allow to cool completely before cutting into triangles. Pipe a dot of white frosting for the top of the hat and a row of dots across the base. You can use the Wilton cookie icing (Target has it!), or a jar of frosting in decorating bags or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off.

These are great for any last minute party or company coming over, too. I highly recommend making them in the morning and eating one warm, with your cup of coffee.

Ok, ready? Here are all the other spots you need to check out today! Seriously, these are some great ladies with fabulous tips for you!

Gift Guides for Your Girls! (+ GIVEAWAY!)

I love shopping for the girls in my life at Christmastime. Maybe it's because I buy so many boy things for The Hubs and for my sons that it's nice to take a break and go all girly.

This year, one of my sisters moved from Georgia to Ohio for work. So far, the winter has treated her well, but I know she's going to start feeling the pain of the temperatures dropping soon! I decided her gift is going to be a basket full of goodies perfectly suited for cold weather. That is if I don't snag the stuff out of it.

But really, how great is this stuff? I got this whole basketful at JCPenney. No, seriously! From Keurig to makeup selections, KitchenAid to Nike, JCPenney is up on it's great brands!

Another girl I love to shop for is the hostess. I like to bring a little something to a dinner party, but if we stay somewhere, I like to bring something bigger as a thank you. These gifts are great for someone you're shopping for that just likes to entertain, too! I use these things on the regular, so I figure anyone who likes to throw parties like I do, will find them useful.

BonJour Bijoux French Press | Cheeseboard with Knives | Keurig Carousel

Now, I may have 3 boys, but I have 5 nieces and MY GOODNESS. It's fun to shop for all the shimmery, glittery, princess stuff!

Princess Figurine Play Set | Baby Moccasins | Disney Frozen Tutu Skirt | Melissa & Doug Dollhouse Elsa Tee | Disney Frozen Suitcase | Bling Rhinestone Headphones | Bunny Slippers

JCPenney has great prices and hot brands that you and everyone on your list will love! I really couldn't believe how much Disney stuff they had and since everyone loves Frozen right now, it was a great spot to shop.

I encourage you all to get to your store, or keep your pajamas on and hop on over to JCPenney online and find the perfect things to #gifttoast your friends and family with!  You can also follow them on FacebookTwitterPinterestInstagramYoutube, and Google+!

Who is your favorite person to Christmas shop for? Tell me in the comments for a chance to win a $100 JCPenney gift card!

Christmas Home Tour 2015

We had friends here for dinner over the weekend, which meant my house was actually clean enough for some pictures of our Christmas decorations!

Come on in!

This is our sitting room. It's more of a rustic look, which I love!

The fur lined stocking ornament is one of my favorites and one of The Hubs least favorites! Haha.

Snowman and trees: Pier 1 (They're both on sale and free shipping today!) | Peace marquee: Target last year. Not sure about in store, but online, they have Joy and Noel right now.

Across from the sitting room is the dining room. It's my winter wonderland. The bowl of silver bells are the Wallace bells that my grandma and mom have been giving us every year. I love collecting them!

Through the dining room is the butlers pantry and one of my favorite spots in the house!

This room is brought to you by Target. Kidding. But really, fancy straws, glasses, coasters bottle tags...Target is my jam.

The kitchen doesn't have too much festive, but some cute little towels on the oven will do.

The breakfast nook has a cookie jar gone candy jar and the heaviest ornament I've ever seen hanging from the light. It would totally make the tree fall over if it was there!

The living room is busy these days. The mantle is getting full and there are toys in every nook and cranny.

Stockings: Kohls | Stocking holders: Target, last year (I can't find more and need another one if your store has them!) | Basket: Michaels | Willow Tree Nativity Set

These are the Danbury Mint ornaments that The Hubs family gives us each year. They're beautiful and a different design each year.

Last but not least, the boys tree upstairs. This was our first tree when we got married and now is theirs to decorate however they like! My sweet friend just gave them the train to go around the bottom. It makes it perfect!

Thanks for checking out our Christmas house! I'm sure I'll regret the 3 tree thing as soon as we have to take them down!
