Last weekend in Georgia, I wore these adorable pom shorts. I'm obsessed with comfy shorts and am loving that they're so in right now! I dressed them up a bit with these fun new JustFab heels.

Now, we're on the other side of the country in New York and I'm taking the opportunity to wear some "warmer" summer clothes. This outfit will probably be re-worn!

Georgia Snaps

I had such a great visit with my family in Georgia earlier this week. No matter where I move to, it's always so nice to go home. That familiar smell, the old table I colored on when I was little, quilts made by my grandfather hanging on the walls. There's just something relaxing about the whole thing. I had coffee, that my dad roasted himself, with my parents every morning, hung out with my teenage siblings and let myself submit to the slow paced south Georgia life for a few days.

Today we are taking it to the other extreme and heading to New York to see the hubs family. There will be no gun shooting or fried food eating, but there will be a whole different set of experiences. Our two worlds couldn't be more different and I'm so glad our family gets to enjoy them both!

The boys and I are down in Georgia visiting my parents for a few days. It's been making me crazy that we live close now, but I haven't been able to get here while Coop's been in school. I'm loving the feel of being home and the boys are having the best time riding around my parents land on the rover and staying up late.

My dad is a car guy and always has something fun. This trip, it's an orange '73 Beetle convertible that's probably the cutest car I've ever seen. I got my fill of standard driving while cruising around with my teenage brother and sister. 13 and 14 years between us suddenly doesn't feel like as much as it used to. They're driving, sharing my clothes and working summer jobs. How did I grow up so fast?

6 Tips for a Healthy Body

Getting and staying healthy is tough. It's so easy to get in on a diet or workout fad and have it fizzle out after a few months. I've been making efforts to be healthier in general over the past couple of years. At times I've been really good and other times, I've been a real slacker. But lately, I think I've hit my stride, somewhat, in a healthy, balanced life. I'm no expert, but I decided to share the things I really try to focus on.

1. Water

I drink a ton of water. I also go to the bathroom all day long. I can tell a huge difference in my stomach when I don't drink enough. When I wake up in the next morning after drinking my quota, I'm flatter and feel less out of breath in my morning workout. My goal is a gallon a day, which is a little over 1 oz for every pound. I've heard people say you should drink at least 1/2 of your body weight in ounces, but more often I've heard you should drink your actual body weight in ounces. The actual weight is where I feel the best, which leaves me just shy of a gallon.

2. Clean Eating
Stilettos and Diapers: Clean Eating Snacks
Clean eating is so much easier with a plan. I meal plan 1 month in advance and have a little collection of snacks that I like to make. Snacking is my biggest problem, so I usually have one of these things ready for when the sweet tooth or late night munchies hit. Pumpkin Oat Balls, Chocolate Muffins, Chocolate Peanut Butter "Fudge" and "Samoa" Bars only sound bad for you. They really are all things I concocted from all clean, healthy ingredients that are perfect for snacking.

3. Vitamins
Stilettos and Diapers: Easy way to take vitamins with Vitafusion
Nearly 7 years ago, when I was pregnant for the first time, vitamins were a huge struggle for me. I developed an insane gag reflex that I still have, which doesn't allow me to swallow pills easily. So, after months of prenatal vitamins, I started taking the kids chewable ones. Now, I still take chewable ones, just ones that are tailored more to my specific needs. Vitafusion makes MultiVites PLUS Hair, Skin & Nail Support* in a gummy, which makes it SO much easier for me to take my vitamins. It's actually something I enjoy since they're delicious and I can grab them on the run. The hubs sneaks the easy-to-take gummies, too, so I got him the MultiVites PLUS Heart Support*.
I put the vitamins where I remember to take them. Somewhere like your coffee cabinet is good, so you see them every morning.

4. Running
Stilettos and Diapers: Eat Pray Run from FitspirationCouture

I love running. I know it's a certain group of people that that's true for, but I really do love it. It clears my head and that in and of itself is a big part of healthiness for me. My body is most trim when I am running consistently. For me, this means 3-4 times a week about 2-3 miles. When I'm training for a race, it's obviously more, but I've found this to be a manageable amount for me.

5. Weights

I'm a big advocate of weight lifting. Not insane amounts, but light to moderate weights create so much more definition in your body! I love P9oX because it's manageable for me to do at home with my kids and also incorporates weight lifting. We have a few sets of dumbbells and I use those along with lots of push-ups and pull-ups in my workouts.

6. Splurge!
Stilettos and Diapers: Maple Bacon Donut, Donut King

I try my hardest to be super healthy during the week. Then on the weekends, I splurge a bit.  I do keep to the water and vitamin routine all the time, but come the weekend, we might go out to eat, I'll eat an ice cream cone with my boys, or I'll have that cheeseburger I'd been thinking about all week. I never want to feel like I'm "dieting" or that I'm not living life. I think allowing myself things I want here and there is a key to sticking to my routine. I mean, who doesn't need a maple bacon donut every now and then?!

If your healthy habits are enjoyable, you're much more likely to keep doing them. From workouts I like, to vitamins that hit the sweet spot, to my own healthy version of treats, I'm making my habits as fun as they can be.

Last Friday, the hubs had a work event at a local country club as a kickoff for a weekend golf tournament they were playing in. It was fun to get dressed up a little and to have a night out. I was meeting some of his coworkers that I hadn't met before, so I was actually nervous beforehand. I got my hair cut and went shopping that day and was thrilled with this dress I found literally just hours before we left! I ended up having a ton of fun and I managed to not get any barbecue on my clothes. WIN.

I cheated a little this year and already gave the hubs some of his Father's Day gifts. He had a big golf tournament with work over the weekend and I had gotten him several of the things shown above from Kohl's. He loves the Grand Slam line of golf apparel because it's tailored fitting and comes in long lengths. I love that they come in great colors and designs.

For holidays, I find myself shopping at Kohl's online a lot, because they have a great selection of team gear. The oversized golf umbrella and golf bag are just a couple of the fun team products they have for golfers. You'll also find balls, tees, clothing and more with your college and pro teams logos.

Need a little help with your Father's Day shopping this year? You can use DADSDAY10 for $10 off your $30 purchase of mens apparel and accessories at Kohls.com. What's more? You can win a $100 Kohl's gift card by simply entering using the widget below!

Weekend Getaway: Georgia Aquarium

Last weekend, we took a little overnight trip to Atlanta to visit the Georgia Aquarium. I was born in Atlanta and my family still lives in Georgia, but I'd never been before. It's only a 4 hour drive from Charlotte, so we loaded up after school on Friday and took off. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is right across the street from the Aquarium and very close to downtown. The hotel was gorgeous and Cooper even cried when we left. He wanted to live there. (If you go, grab the breakfast buffet at The City View room. It was amazing and worth every single calorie in the plates plate I ate.)

Saturday morning, we went to the Aquarium and all 4 of us enjoyed our time.

There was so much to see, read and learn. I was impressed that it really did entertain all of us, not just the kids.

There were several tanks that you could touch things in. Lots of coral, small rays and really cool looking anemones.

You can climb up into tubes to be right next to the penguins. Callan wouldn't take his eyes off of them long enough for a picture!

Stilettos and Diapers: Georgia Aquarium with kids One of my favorite things, was the tunnel underneath the large fish tank. This tank had the whale sharks and huge rays.

Later in the day, we went on a behind the scenes tour and got to see the tank from the top. The fish were so close to us!

We also got to see the top of the tropical fish tank. It had tons of artificial light and a huge skylight to make it feel like they were in their natural environment. Every 2 minutes, water dumps into the tank. From up top, its a huge gush of water. From below, the music is set to the water, the lights go darker and it makes for a very dramatic event. So fun to watch!

There were some things behind the scenes that weren't quite ready for the crowds, yet. Like these starfish and little baby penguins who were just learning to swim.

Not included in these pictures, is a really fun 3D show that the boys loved. It had them reaching out trying to grab things in front of them, air blowing, water spraying and more. My favorite of the day, was the Dolphin show. It was a show with people and dolphins doing incredible stunts. It was very impressive and had my little guys attention for the full 30 minutes!

Since Atlanta is such a central southern city, it makes it really easy for a lot of people to get there. There is so much to do right around the Aquarium as well. If you're looking for a good trip this summer, consider the Georgia Aquarium! They have a Southern Hospitality Discount that runs through June 13th. Residents of Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida can receive discounted admission of $29.95 + tax when they show a valid ID verifying residency at the ticket window only. I know most of these states, kids are already out of school. Take them for a little vacation, entertainment and education all in one! You can check out more ticket details here

Thanks to the Georgia Aquarium for providing this trip for my family. All opinions are my own.
