I got really sad when the 70 degree days left and it got cold again. But, there's something really awesome about thick socks and tall boots. I had also only worn this sweatshirt once and it wasn't even for an entire day because it got baby tylenol drooled all over the front of it.

Grabbed Starbucks on a Target run that day, which is necessary when it's cold. I've forgiven them for being out of water on my last trip, singlehandedly ruining a perfectly awesome Target adventure. Anyway, jewel toned crazy, cool weather outfit it is. And if you haven't heard me say it the other 13,000 times, if you're short, buy your pants in the girls section! I don't see this particular pattern online, but they were in my store. Adjustable waist, ftw.

Also, babies who can't keep their fingers out of your hair love extensions. And they don't fall out from all the pulling. Well done, Bellami

Cleaning, Organizing and Getting Back on Track

I've been drowning a little the past couple weeks. Trying to fit in all the stuff that needs to be done, from laundry, cooking, cleaning and school pickup, to running my business and keeping on my half marathon training schedules. It's just been busy. Top that with not being able to find everything after moving in and I was becoming a bit crazy.

Finding a routine is hard and I think I just lost mine in the midst of all the moving and transition. Suddenly it hit me last week, that I had a good schedule going before we moved and all I needed to do was get back into it.

First up, was reprinting my busy mom's Cleaning Schedule and getting it back on the wall. Focusing on a couple things a day is helping me not get overwhelmed and helping this house not look like a complete nightmare. I also just bought a dustbuster. This Black & Decker one to be exact. I have way too many crumbs on my floor to pull out the broom and dustpan twice a day!

Next up, was getting my meal plans back in line. I love, love eMeals but I wasn't printing off and using the plans! I use their plans in combination with my own Monthly Meal Planning. Now, when I wrote that post, we weren't eating as healthy as we are now. My meals look a bit different now and I could get away with less trips to the store. Now, I can go about once every 7-10 days. Which is way better than the every 2-3 I was doing last month. Ain't nobody got time for that! I just started planning my whole month out again, which is so great for me. I don't have to think or worry about dinner outside of my 1 nap time of planning.

Lastly, I got my workout schedule back in place. My training for the NYC half wasn't that great, but I think I've found my stride. The hubs and I area also kicking booty in P90X3. Agreeing to workout together from 6-6:30am has been great so far. Accountability is where it's at and I think both of our swimsuits will thank us come summer!

If you have tips for keeping me organized and on track, I'll take them!

Since we moved, I've really been trying to wear things I already have in my closet. I was trying on pants while going through them and I put on these old denim capris. They literally have to be 8 years old. But, I liked how they fit and I liked them with this top better than the jeans I had on earlier in the day. So, added a pair of tall boots and off I went. Have y'all ever done that? I wouldn't do it if I was going to someones house that I might have to take my shoes off, but for a regular old day? I think my wardrobe just grew for the remainder of tall boot season.

The hubs had some big meetings this week and has been gone till after 10pm a few of the days. I'm so ready for the weekend. Thank goodness it's Friday!

The Great Whiteout

Last week's snowstorm was the biggest storm I've seen in a really long time. We got about 10" over the course of 2 days and it was nothing less than magical.  photo ffb1b3cd-239b-4482-8757-e50bf871a014_zps0b940127.jpg photo file_zpseaf81b13.jpg photo file_zpsfc6c57f4.jpg
We went out, mid-snow, on the first day. The boys were literally in their feetie jams with coats and hats. We took a few trips on the snow tube down the hill and didn't stay out all that long.

I hate this picture is blurry, because it shows my kids personalities perfectly. Cooper is careful, reserved and likes to stay clean. Callan is a wild man, who will do anything. The more snow flying in that open mouth, the better.

The next day, we bundled up more and stayed out awhile. The boys had an epic snowball fight, we did lots more sledding and built a 7 foot snowman.

3 snow days, lots of snuggles and vats of hot chocolate went down last week. Just enough to satisfy any craving I had for snow. Today is supposed to be our second 72 degree day in a row, I got a hot pink mani/pedi and I'm ready for all things spring

Spring Favorites Under $100

I don't know about you, but I'm more than ready for spring to be here! We are supposed to hit 70 today and that's enough to make me want to shop for warm weather clothes! Here are some things I'm loving for the spring that are all under $100. Happy Shopping!

We just had the best time in all the snow that fell here last week! On Valentine's Day, I broke the no longer existent rules and went with white pants. I wanted to wear something girly and romantic for love day, but I wasn't in the red mood. Maybe because my house was completely covered in all things Valentine's!

I'm loving these booties, though. I think they're going to be regulars for the spring!

Business Casual with Hanes

It's not a much talked about thing on this blog, but there happens to be another fashion lover in my house. My hubby. He doesn't really call himself that, but deep down, he has to know it. He loves shopping (but only for himself!) and likes to be wearing current, trendy clothing. Well, so long as he doesn't have to wear skinny jeans.

Clean Eating: "Samoa" Bars

Clean eating Samoa Bars: Coconut, oatmeal, chocolate bars.
These bars are everything and nothing all at the same time. Everything because they are so amazingly delicious. Nothing because they are really, really easy and have no artificial anything in them.

So if you're snowed in like we are today, hopefully you have the ingredients to make these. You're going to want to.

1/2 c Peanut Butter, creamy
1/2 c Honey
1/4 c Coconut Oil
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
2 Tbsp. Ground Flaxseed
1/4 c Cocoa
1 1/2 c Rolled Oats
1/2 c Shredded Coconut, unsweetened

(Some of these ingredients are just easiest ordered online. And with Amazon Prime, I get them so fast and usually at much better prices!)

In a medium sized pot, melt peanut butter, honey and coconut oil, stirring until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla, flaxseed and cocoa until smooth. Stir in oats and coconut until well mixed.

Line a glass dish with foil. (I used a 7x11 (2 quart) pyrex dish.) Pour mixture in and press gently. Place in the refrigerator until hardened, about 2 hours. Cut into bars or squares and store in an airtight container in the fridge. (If you double the recipe, it fits perfectly into a 9x13 pan.)

Below I sprinkled some large flaked coconut and a few chocolate chips in the foil lined pan and poured the mixture on top of it. When it was hardened, I flipped it over before cutting into bars.

Or there's this option, where I just sprinkled the coconut right on top of the mixture and pressed it in gently before chilling.

They taste the same either way and you could even skip sprinkling anything on them. Just makes them prettier, if you'd like!

Tell me if you make these! Since making my first batch 2 weeks ago, I've made 4 batches and my family has devoured them!

This outfit is all old. Some of it is really old. The hubs was trying to impress me on our first Christmas together and got me this Sacks 5th Ave cashmere turtleneck. 12 years later, I haven't been able to part with it and wear it occasionally. It's hands down the softest garment I own and it's really warm out in the cold!

I think it's been 2 weeks since these pictures, back when we had our little North Carolina snow. I'm headed out to the grocery store soon to brace for another storm coming in tonight. If we get the 8-12" they're calling for, I can't imagine being able to leave the house anytime soon with the road conditions around here! I hear most of the bread in the Charlotte area is gone already, but I'm more concerned about the wine aisle...

Monthly Mojo: February

I'm teaming up with a couple of my great blog friends for a new monthly project called Monthly Mojo. We'll be posting 5 of our current favorite "must haves" each month!

I've met so many wonderful people through blogging and have several people who have become very close friends of mine. These two girls in particular are basically me, living different lives. We love fashion, working out, shoes, and all things pink. I'm so grateful they are in my life!

Rachel blogs at Running Backwards in High Heels. She's a mom of 2 cute girls and has pushed me to run faster and longer! We've run 2 half marathons together and somedays, I may talk to her more than my husband...

Heather blogs at My Life Well Loved. She also works for eMeals and has encouraged me a ton with my clean eating goals. She teaches Pure Barre and has my goal booty.

So after all the introduction, here Monthly Mojo for this month!

1. Avicii and Aloe Blacc. They co-wrote the song "Wake Me Up" which I'm totally loving still. Avicii has a new song "Hey Brother" and Aloe Blacc sings the song you've probably heard "I'm the Man". I'm normally a country gal, but these folk-y tunes are great for house cleaning and running!

2. Mega Red Krill Oil. This stuff is similar to a fish oil, but I like it much better. I started taking it after my Mother-in-law recommended it to me for arthritis symptoms. I think it has helped me as well as improving my skins super winter dryness.

3. Crystal Tortoise Necklace. This is a new necklace to Molly Suzanne and I have worn it countless times in the past couple weeks. It goes with everything!

4. Sam Adams Cold Snap. I'm not normally a big beer drinker, especially in the winter, but this seasonal brew is really good. On our random 65 degree days last week, it went perfectly with our BBQ!

5. Leopard Slippers. This was the only thing I had on my Christmas wish list and boy was it a good choice. These things have barely left my feet. Oh, and they're on clearance right now!

DIY: Playroom Art Display

You know what happens when North Carolina gets snow that keeps you in the house for 3 days? You get crafty. And you must involve the children that are off from school and happen to be bouncing off the walls. I had this project in mind after getting inspired from a picture on Pinterest, so I had all the pieces.

You'll need:

A ruler (I used 1 for each child)
Clothes pins
Wood glue
3M Strips
simple diy, kids art display, playroom art display

Space the clothes pins out on the ruler so you know how many to paint and what colors you want. I did a pin every 6" and let the boys pick their colors.

Take the spring out of the clothes pins and paint the wood. Which happens to be a job very well suited to entertaining a 5 year old.

After the paint dries, put the pins back together and attach to the ruler with wood glue.

Put a 3M strip on the back of the ruler and stick it to the wall!

Add art and admire! It was so fun to see the boys faces when they saw their work on the wall. It adds so much color to their playroom, too!

I used craft paint and 3M strips that we already had. I spent about $4 on the rest of the items, making it not only an easy project, but a cheap one!
