Top c/o| Pants (last season's color) | Boots c/o | Bag c/o | Belt

These are, hands down, some of my favorite fall pants. I love the deep plum color and corduroy is just the best fall fabric. I paired these pants with a top Choies just sent me. I love the feminine lace shoulders and sleeves. I'm sure you can tell that I'm all about lace right now. So girly!

Sometimes, Don't Be Fashionably Late.

I happen to be perpetually late. I like to blame this on the kids. It basically takes a lifetime to get out the door with everyone dressed in clean clothes and a bag stocked with diapers, wipes snacks and sippy cups. The fact of the matter is, that I've always run on the late side. The kids have just accentuated my problem. And the hubs. Well, he makes me later than the kids. I have often times found myself waiting in the car for him, and well, that makes him impressively late.

This fall, we've found ourselves selling a house, buying a house, moving to a new state, hubs starting a new job and a child starting school. I can say that I've feared being that parent that pulls into school every morning, just as the bell rings. I'm proud to say that has only happened the first day. (Probably because his crazy blogger mom was taking too many pictures). It's been a massive adjustment on us the past few weeks. The hubs is going into an office, instead of working from home. The baby's nap is thrown off because of school pickup. I can't stay in my pajamas until noon. We've had to implement some new strategies to get everyone up and out the door in the morning.

1. Pick out your clothes the night before. Not just your child's. Yours too.

2. Pack lunches and snacks early. I like to make little baggies of snacks on the weekend so they're easy to grab on the rush out the door.

3. Organize, organize, organize. I have a planner for family/school and one for blogging/business stuff. I'm trying hard to keep everything color coordinated and make sure I'm not missing anything.

The fact of the matter is, there is no free time. As a Mom, someone always needs me. I'm creating a business at home that's begging for some time. I'm keeping our house in order and having healthy meals on the table every night. There's no time to be late.

One thing that isn't on my to-do list, is bills. The hubs loves all things numbers, budgeting and saving. He takes care of all the bills and well, sometimes, that doesn't always work out so well. He's busy himself and has, more than once, been late on a bill. It's so frustrating when you budget and plan and end up with a late fee because of sheer busyness. Even worse, is trying to call and beg for the charge to be reversed. You end up wasting so much of your time and we all know that time is money.

Lucky for us, there is a card that alleviates the frustration of late fees and has no penalty rate. Meet Citi Simplicity. It's the ONLY credit card that has no late fees, no penalty rate or annual fee. Ever. Late fees are typically $15-$35. That can really add up!

With Citi Simplicity, you really can save time and money. Features like allowing you to choose your own payment due date and automatic bill payment help you conquer lateness. One of my favorite features of Citi Simplicity is Citi Price Rewind. When you make a purchase and register an eligible item with your Citi credit card, Citi searches retailers' sites to make sure you got the best deal. Save your credit card receipt each time you shop. If your item is found for $25 less than you paid within 30 calendar days after purchase, you get the difference back, up to $250. The average refund is $80! This can save tons of time shopping around for the best price! Your Citi Simplicity card also offers a feature called Citi Easy Deals, which offers you great discounts on gift cards, restaurants, shops and travel. With over 200,000 offers, there's plenty of savings for everyone.

Because I want you to be fashionable, not fashionably late, here are some tips for taking control of your financial lateness this fall:

Don't pay late fees. The best way to do this, is with Citi Simplicity

Deposit your checks electronically. Most banks now offer that option and it's practically a Mom's dream.

Take advantage of reminder text or emails. A lot of companies offer this benefit, but if yours doesn't, set up an automatic alert in your Google calendar.

Stop procrastinating. Of course paying bills isn't high up on anyones fun list. So instead of putting it off, get it done. Nothing feels better than completing task that you've been putting off.

I've Got Sunshine.

I used to do all these awards and surveys when I first started blogging. It was so much fun to kindof get to know people through them. Lately, I've been so caught up with my little blog calendar, that I haven't allowed space for just the fun, get to know you stuff!
{the sunshine award is given to bloggers who's posts brighten your day}

When Sarah nominated me for this sunshine award, I was honored. Although I haven't been reading her blog for that long, I was instantly drawn to her. She's just one of those people that you want to be friends with. Lucky for me, I think I've almost brainwashed her enough to move from the frigid state of Minnesota to be my neighbor. I have a lot caution taped off for her, her very handsome hubs and their sweet baby bundle, Crue. Go follow her, really. And check out their wedding pics that include the fair and corn dogs. Yes. She's that awesome.

The Sunshine award rules are as follows:

1. Include the sunshine award icon in your post (above)
2. Link to the person who nominated you
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award
5. Link your nominees and let them know they've been nominated

Okay, onto the questions from Sarah!

What is your biggest joy? That's easy. My boys. The tiny people that drive me to turn grey and run away as soon as daddy gets home, are also, hands down, the greatest joy of my life.

What is one of your favorite memories? I could talk about tons of favorite memories. Cooper's first trip to Disney. Our first family vacation to Hawaii. Our wedding. But one I was just thinking about yesterday was when the hubs and I drove to Tijuana while we were living in California. I just wanted to cross the border and drink a margarita. Once we got there, I was terrified, ended up only drinking bottled beer and bought a large metal wine rack at a open air market for $12. We had to drive all the way back to San Francisco with the convertible top open because it wouldn't fit in the car. It was such a fun adventure with the hubs.

What is your biggest fear? Something happening to my kids. I think that is something every mom fears.

What is your favorite thing about fall? All of the things! I love fall. If it could be fall and I could still get a tan, it would be perfection. My most favorite things, though, are pumpkin spice creamer and Bath and Body candles.

What is your favorite thing to wear/wardrobe staple? My favorite thing to wear would have to be my new cobalt heels. I'm currently obsessed with cobalt everything. The staple I wear most often would have to be my F21 skinny jeans. They're $10.80, have the perfect amount of stretch and go with everything. I have 3 different sizes that go into rotation when I'm pregnant/postpartum.

You're on a road trip...what cd do you play? I vividly remember a road trip I made by myself from Florida to Michigan. It was snowing and I was heading to get the hubs before we moved to California. I listened to Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds. I listened to it like 17 times and I don't know that I've put in a CD since then? Right now, my choice would probably be Luke Bryan radio on Pandora. This girl loves some country music.

Favorite quote? I used this in the speech I gave for my nursing school graduation and I've loved it ever since. "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Favorite thing to buy? Shoes. No clothes. No anything on sale. I'm Target's dream customer. I'm wooed by the clearance tag, even when it's only 10% off.

Dream vacation is... Quiet, a beach and no plans. Shoot. I'd probably settle right now for a room by myself at the Holiday Inn. If I'm dreaming, though, the hubs and I would love to go to Europe. It's still undecided if we take the boys or wait a bit and go just us. I'm pretty terrified to leave the country without my kids. But back to that hotel room...

What's your favorite piece of advice? To never compare yourself to others. Someone else's success doesn't indicate your failure and vise versa.

I nominate a couple of my best blog friends and some new ones:

Emily at Life with Emily
Heather at Live, Love, Laugh
Natalie at My Crazy Busy Life
Rachel at Rachel's Nest

And here are your questions:

1. What is your favorite thing about your significant other?
2. When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grow up?
3. It's 5 o'clock somewhere. What's your cocktail of choice?
4. What is your proudest moment in life?
5. Have you had your first "I am my Mother" moment? If so, what was it?
6. Where is your favorite place to shop?
7. If you won $1,000,000, what is the first thing you'd do with it?
8. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
9. What is the worst and best gift you've ever gotten?
10. What is your favorite current fashion trend?

And anyone else that wants to answer these questions and post on your blog, go for it!

Black Tie Wear

I'm heading to a black tie charity event with the hubs in about a month and I haven't decided what to wear. I've been to a couple semi-formal charity events, but not black tie. My first thought, is to wear something long and black. But, I'm undecided. I don't want to be too boring, but I don't necessarily want to stand out either! Here are some dresses I've found that I love. It's obvious that I currently have a slight lace obsession.

 1 | 2 | 3

4 | 5 | 6

7 | 8 | 9

What do you think? Do I have to go long, or is below the knee enough? Should I rent or buy? What would you wear?

Truth Be Told...

The mood around here is seriously debby downer. Well, I guess I could say my mood around here. We had a really hard weekend saying goodbye to our house and I'm having a hard time recovering. Our movers were super awesome and actually entertaining to watch. Their little box slide was pretty fun.

But once they were gone and we were left in our empty house, my heart hurt.
I don't want to live in this apartment. I want my stuff. I want space for the boys to run. I don't want to have to tell them to be quiet every 2 minutes because I don't want to piss the neighbors off.

Yesterday, I was talking to our builder for literally 4 minutes. I had shut the door to my room because the boys were making so much noise. I came out to find them outside. I panicked. Once everyone was safely inside, I got mad. Not at them, but because that can't happen at my house. I have the alarm on and a lock they can't open.

That talk with the builder was about them not having our countertop or flooring choices available anymore. When we went to pick out alternate selections this morning, I almost cried. The countertop choices were now ugly and uglier.

I did get to bring some more stuff from our house to make it feel comfortable and our movers were kind enough to bring a few more boxes down for us. Except I just realized today that one box didn't get marked "temporary living". I'm down a crock pot, measuring cups, cookie sheets, lots more kitchen stuff and our winter coats.

It feels like nothing is going according to my plans and all I want is to be settled. I want to drive by our house today after school pickup and see a finished house. Then move in tomorrow and live happily ever after. But that's not going to happen.

I know I'm complaining and I have a bad attitude. I understand that I'm blessed and that my problems are very small in comparison to so many others. But that doesn't change the fact that, whether I want to or not, I'm still struggling.

We're at our house in Virginia. Things are being packed and moved all around us. I keep shuffling the boys from room to room, trying to stay out of the way. It's amazing and awesome that I don't have to pack the stuff. The hassle of kid chasing and answering everyone's questions about what goes where, when and how is nothing compared to packing all this stuff alone. I'm so glad the Hubs' work is taking care of all of it, otherwise, my booty probably wouldn't be moving.

I've realized I need to go through my clothes. When I walked into my room last night, I realized that the amount of stuff in my closet is completely overkill. The boxes of just my stuff are lining an entire wall. There will be some serious purging once we move in!

It's hard seeing all these empty rooms and even harder explaining to Cooper why the guys are taking all our stuff. I will be so happy next time I see the big truck pull up in front of our house!

12 weeks...I can do anything for 12 weeks, right?!

Army Stripe {A Fashion Post}

Stilettos and Diapers: Striped dress, military jacket, boots

 photo file_zpsa47977a5.jpg photo 4924264d-6821-41d5-8696-0dc81752be85_zps786ca063.jpg photo 2670086e-5964-4032-bbab-5ed705983c9f_zps676df9b3.jpg photo f5d9d67a-f334-4ab7-a6ea-62d75ac897a8_zps7e90d511.jpg photo 7d973ddc-0c15-47ff-8cca-d6b8365e84ed_zpsa11bd5fd.jpg photo 1eee24bd-4206-4b7e-811a-b806b2de54fd_zps0023bc92.jpg photo 0e5af363-96aa-4220-aab2-6f2a7ff16dcd_zpsb87c1235.jpg

If I ever ask Cooper what I should wear, he always picks this dress. I'm really not sure why, but he thinks I look beautiful in the $12.95, comfy as all getup, dress. When he pulled it out and asked me to wear it over the weekend, I knew I had to improvise since it was getting chilly out.

The trail and lake in our backyard has been so much fun for walking with the boys and beer sipping with the hubs. We are trying hard to find time to enjoy being all together even though everything is so busy lately.

Lastly. That bracelet on my left arm? It's probably the most amazing thing ever. It's basically half ponytail holder, half gold link bracelet. As someone that never leaves the house without a hair tie on my wrist, I'm completely in love. They'll be available in my shop later this week!

I had the chance to attend the final of Charlotte Fashion week over the weekend and loved the opportunity to dress up! I was dying to wear these blue suede shoes somewhere. I adore them. I'm completely obsessed with royal blue right now!

The fashion there was pretty spectacular. The event was sold out, so us bloggers didn't end up close enough for great shots. But, I did manage to snap a pic of the dress made out of Forever 21 bags. Oh, yes. I'd totally wear that.

Got to meet these other sweet bloggers, KenyaGrace and Akiel, too. It was a fun event!

Pumpkin Oat Balls {Recipe}

Stilettos and Diapers: Pumpkin Balls. Quick clean eating snack.

These pumpkin balls are the result of buying way too many pumpkin scented candles and getting a hardcore craving for fall food the other night. Luckily, I had just stocked up on some pumpkin since it was on the end cap at the store and all. Those tactics totally work on me.

Anyway, I got to mixing and adding and ended up really loving the end product. It's not overly sweet, but as someone that doesn't eat much sugar, it's really dessert like. You could always add in a little coconut sugar or brown sugar if you like them a bit sweeter. I've been eating these after a workout, for mid-morning snack and at night when I get the munchies. They're basically awesome all day errrday.
 photo file_zpse1ea4010.jpg

1 cup pumpkin
3 cups oats, not cooked
4 Tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp flax seeds
1 cup walnuts
1/2 cup grain sweetened chocolate chips. You could use dark chocolate pieces, regular chocolate chips or just skip them altogether. I did half with and half without.

Mix everything together in a large bowl. You kind of want to press and fold to get everything together. Roll into balls about 1" in diameter. Place on a wax paper or saran lined pan and chill for about 30 minutes.
Certain little helpers will not wait for them to chill...

And that's it! Store in the refrigerator in an air tight container and snack your little heart out! photo file_zps32b77d7d.jpg photo file_zpsfcaad0d7.jpg

Last night was the kickoff party for Charlotte Fashion Week 2013! It was held at the Residence at South Park, which has a gorgeous view of Uptown Charlotte. I am totally loving all this city has to offer!

I loved getting to meet some other local fashion bloggers. Bre of Basically Bre and Pamela of Yes it is, Kevin were both such dolls. I also got to meet the Ashley-Jane and Christie of Possession Obsession, who were the ones that invited us to attend. Thanks, so much, girls!
There was a couple synchronized swimming performances during the night that were seriously impressive. I honestly don't know how you hold your breath that long!

This look is from the great people of FabKids. Sister to my most favorite shoe store eva, JustFab, FabKids sells complete looks at 1 price to make shopping simple.

The sunglasses, those are from Chuck-E-Cheese. We went over the weekend to celebrate Cooper finishing his first whole week of school. He chose these glasses as a prize for all his tickets. So essentially they cost us a few hours of the hubs and I trying to outsmart the kid games and $30. A little overpriced, if you ask me.

School is going awesome for my little man. I'm still having a hard time letting him go each morning, but he is doing such a great job. He has a couple little friends, a girl he wants to buy candy for and got the highest grade in his first week math assessment. Proud mama right here!
