Stilettos and Diapers: May 2011

Our wrapped up weekend.

Friday started the hubs 4 day weekend and we went to the airport that morning to pick up Pa and Ma'am! Cooper was so excited to hold up his sign!
That afternoon, we went to see the new baby Doctor. We both loved her so I feel a huge sense of relief that I have a Doc now! They didn't do an ultrasound, so no news of the sex for 3.5 more weeks!
We had a 40th Anniversary dinner on Saturday for the hubs parents. They spent their Anniversary in South Africa, but we wanted to celebrate here. I made beef tenderloin with wine sauce, twice baked potatoes, and sugared carrots, followed by a big white cake.

Memorial Day weekend wouldn't be complete without ice cream cones, right?

Dude is such a poser. (And has had a haircut since these pics!)

We spent the day Sunday barbecuing and roasting marshmallows at my Sis-in-law's house and Monday we were straight up lazy. Chinese take-out, the park and the pool. I am so happy that our pool is finally open! Y'all know where to find us every morning this summer! Now if I could just figure out some way to get the back of me tan..

Chicken Marsala - A little different {RECIPE}

I am a huge Chicken Marsala fan but a huge hater of mushrooms. We have a "no fungus among us" rule in our house. I will pretty much eat anything...there's just something about the slimy consistency of cooked mushrooms that makes me pukey.

So we do a replacement that I think happens to be delish. Peppers and purple onion.
Saute the peppers and onion in butter.
While cooking, pound the chicken (I always pound under saran wrap so my kitchen doesn't get a bacteria bath) and dredge it in flour.
When the pepper mix is done, set aside.
Then cook chicken in the same pan with some more butter about 4-5 minutes each side.
Remove cooked chicken and place on serving tray. Put pepper mix back in the pan and add marsala wine and water.
And last, add the parsley. Mix together so you deglaze the pan. You don't want to loose all that cooked buttery goodness! When its heated through, pour over chicken and serve.

4 Chicken breast; pound thin
2 Tbsp. Flour
2 Tbsp. Butter
1 each, red pepper, green pepper, purple onion; sliced. (Or 2 Cups Mushrooms. Eww.)
3/4 Cup Marsala Cooking Wine
1/4 Water
2 Tbsp. Fresh Parsley (Or 1 Tbsp. dried)

This recipe is on the menu for this weekend. Hubs parents fly into DC tomorrow after 5 months in South Africa. We are so excited to spend a few days with them before they head home to NY!

And in other news, tomorrow I have my 16 week Dr. appointment! I am just crossing my fingers that this new Dr. I am switching to wants to do an Ultrasound and that maybe they can tell the sex. I'm all antsy pantsy!

Getting honest: One of THOSE days.

Yesterday was one of THOSE days.

One that you go to bed with puffy eyes knowing you failed your child in every way imaginable.

One that as soon as the hubs comes in the door, you breakdown and tell him you are ready to go back to work. Why did I think this whole SAHM thing was the best anyway?

Would a day care worker seriously ever say "because I said so" and stick their tongue out in return?
Ya, I think not.

I felt like these days were few and far between for me. I consider myself to be a pretty patient person and it typically takes a lot to put me into a tailspin. But not lately. Lately, my angel of a 3 year old has learned every. single. one of my buttons and has taken his 'tude to a whole new level. Where did this kid even come from?

There's been hitting, spitting, chanting "no" and screaming that I'm sure makes my neighbors blood curl.

I know I need to get this under control, but I'm not really sure how. Time out seems to be really played out. Carrying him to his room for "quiet time" is getting literally impossible since me and my preggo belly are out of breath once we get to the top of the stairs.

He seems to be much better when we leave the house every day. He loves to go shopping and in an effort to maintain better behavior, I'm thinking this may need to be done on a daily basis.
Someone tell the hubs so I don't have to.

Bottom line is, I want to be a good Mother. I want (I think!) to be home with my kids every day. I want my kids to have fun and not feel like Mommy was in a pissy mood all day. I want to have a clean house and dinner on the table every night. Oh, and I don't want to completely loose my mind in the process.

Too much to ask?

Today is craft day.

Coop may be in his big boy bed, but that's about all that has changed in his room.
Lets hope by the end of the day some progress will be made in his vintage planes, trains and automobiles themed "big boy room"!

Boy or Girl?

Sorry for those of you who don't care at all about the pregnancy thing. I think my blog (and life for that matter) has been a wee bit obsessed with it.

For those of you that do, it's time to vote! There's a vote box at the top of the left sidebar!

I have an appointment with a new Doc next Friday. I will be 16 weeks and I am hoping since its a new Doctor, they just might want to do an ultrasound and they just might be able to tell if the wee one taking over my body is going to take a huge chunk of my shopping budget or leave all the shopping money to me. Hehe.

Here are some facts for y'all to make your decision:

I've been crazy sick. (Not sick at all with Cooper)
I am carrying high already.
I have gained 4lbs.
I can't get enough McDonald's McDoubles. (With cheese only)
But Philadelphia cheesecake filling isn't far behind.
Cooper named the baby "Sam".
Last appointment the heartbeat was 160.
Hubs has 3 sisters, I have 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Alright, what way are you voting? I can't wait to find out!!!

What I'm wearing: 14 weeks.

The bumps getting bigger people!
I am down to 2 pairs of jeans that still button comfortably and don't make tons of muffin top. I guess that will be all I wear for these post for awhile or I'm going to have to start wearing the poochy maternity pants.
Boyfriend jeans and sparkly sandals. I'm so happy its summer!
Outfit Deets:

Jeans - NY & Co.
Tank - Old Navy
Sandals - Gap
Necklace - Julie the Fish

In other news, I HAVE A POTTY TRAINED CHILD! We did the 3 Day Potty Training Manual this week and it worked like a dream. I'm so excited that we will have a nice summer break from diapers! (And that I can justify spending those $75/month on clothes. Muhaha.)

We have big plans to do nothing this weekend. Couldn't. Be. Happier.

Happy Weekend Y'all!

What I've been up to. Nesting and such.

I am pretty certain as I felt my first ever urge (like in all my life) to throw things away, that I am nesting. Now, I am only just about 14 weeks, but I can't get enough of that fun walk out to the trash can or over to the give away pile. No joke people, I've never enjoyed that before.

So, I cleaned out Cooper's closet. Got rid of an entire Rubbermaid bucket full of clothes and replaced them all neatly with his new 4T (eek!) ones.
Then it was off to this horrible closet in the mudroom. It is right when you walk in from the garage, so its a complete dumping ground. I threw out 2 trash bags full of bags out of this one closet.
Hi, I'm Molly and I hoard shopping bags.
I replaced those bags with a shoe rack for the "big people" shoes and a hanging shoe holder for Cooper's little shoes. I kept the light spring coats and all my aprons in there, too.
I also cleaned out the coat closet that now holds all the winter coats, vacuum cleaner and toilet paper for the down stairs bathroom. Its remarkably empty and beautiful.

We also decided to redo our flower beds. The builders put lots of holly bushes in the front beds, which Cooper soon discovered had "berries" on them. Fun times.
We ripped out everything and planted white azaleas, knockout roses, boxwoods and hostas. The tree in the corner is a bradford pear which is my fave. We had one at every house I lived in growing up.
I am a sucker for black mulch, too. Is that weird? Haha.
And since I have 3 hostas that are almost 1 year old, (I DIDN'T KILL THEM!!) I decided to try my hand at gardening. I have tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers sprouting in the kitchen and I am about to transplant them to a little garden plot hubs dug out for me. I am going to add herbs and we planted 2 pear trees. I am pretty sure it will be a flipping wonder if they all live much less produce fruit, but I feel super domestic!

Anyone else going spring cleaning crazy?

What I'm wearing at 13 weeks.

I thought I had a bump last week, but hello hugeness, its week 13! I feel like I'm big way up high, too, which seems weird to me. Or maybe I'm just growing another mammoth child.
Clothes are making me crazy. I'm in between pants, so these stretchy jeans have become my go-to.
I did almost kill myself walking down the street in these 4" heels, so I may need to lay off the big heels as I get, well, severely uncoordinated.
Hubs took these pics on my way out to neighborhood bunco night yesterday. It was there that my new neighbor told me I shouldn't be the first one to introduce myself to the new neighbors. Apparently, me being 26 and wearing a cute skirt and knee high boots made her feel like I was hoity-toity or something. After boo-hooing to the hubs a bit, I decided I like the way I dress, I love being a young momma and I'll keep going 'round with cinnamon buns as soon as I see a moving truck pull in!
My sweet little man, aka Buzz Lightyear wanted to be in a pic too. He makes me so happy!
Outfit Deets:

Jeans - Macy's {Levis}
Tank - Old Navy Maternity (hard to tell in these pics, but it has gold pinstripes)
Jacket - Target (Little girls department. If you wear a womens small, don't forget to shop size14-16 in girls!)
Shoes - Target
Necklace and Ring - F21

Happy Weekend, Y'all!

But I don't want to be an oompa loompa.

Before I got pregnant, there were cute maternity clothes everywhere. Now, they've all disappeared. Like seriously, gone.

It is a pretty big deal for me to get to the mall these days, but yesterday I put on my fave maxi from last summer (which was way tighter in the belly than I thought it would be) and some adorbs 3.5in espadrilles and went for it. With Cooper, stroller, diaper bag, my purse, and plenty of snacks and toys in tow, we set out on our search for big mamma clothes.

Right inside the door we went in was H&M. They had a very little and sad maternity section, but I did find a really cute dress in the regular section for my cousin's wedding in June. That was my main reason for going, so I really shouldn't complain that I found what I needed in 15 minutes. I still needed a dress for the rehearsal dinner and just some summer clothes in general.

After walking a bunch, I found out that my mall has no maternity store. No Motherhood. No Pea in the Pod. Nothing. My F21 has no maternity section. There is no Old Navy in the mall. Grrrr. There was an Auntie Annes, so I made a pit stop. After trying it, Cooper told me he doesn't like hot pretzels, only crunchy ones. Hehe.

I decided I'd check in the big stores. I went in JC Penny and asked this nice old lady if they had a maternity section. She gave me directions then told me what a great section it was. Ummmm, maybe for her...notsomuch for me. Everything was big and tent-y. Then I went in Macys. They had a whole little room that had lots of Motherhood and Pea in the Pod stuff in there. And nothing in my size. Seriously EVERYTHING I liked was they had in every size but mine.

Now what?! I have to shop online...I HATE ordering stuff online and not being able to try it on. I feel like maternity clothes are even worse since they often fit all wonky. And don't even get me started on a bathing suit. I'll be wearing my bikinis to the pool here but don't think I can do it at the beach with my in-laws this summer. Awkward.

Y'all need to tell me, what's your fave place to shop for maternity clothes? Have you ordered them online? What stores are true to size? I really think I need Rosie Pope. Isn't Pregnant in Heels the best show evaaa?
