Stilettos and Diapers: A fine day for poop scooping.

2.09.2011

A fine day for poop scooping.

We have a new neighbor. With a dog. A big one. And she keeps walking it down the street to poop in my yard.

Then she leaves it there.

Back up: We live on a cul-de-sac. There is no house at the very end, but our property line meets our neighbor directly across from us in the middle of the street. I think people must think that it is common ground down at the end, but its our yard/wooded area.

We decided the best thing to do is put up a sign, so hubs made this and got it laminated. {I think it should have actually said no POOPING, but hubs didn't want to use "that word". Hehe}

Then he put it on a stake,And put it up for the world to see.

We decided to pick up the poop that was out there since its getting warmer and I don't want it stinking it up. We got a shovel and went to town. {BTW, those trees fell during the big snowstorm we just had. They will be gone soon.}

Once we got started, I realized just how much poop was out there.

It.Was.Everywhere.

Literally a pile of poop for every day they have lived in the neighborhood. (1 month-ish) We filled a large trash bag 1/2 way with POOP. It was so heavy the bag started to break and hubs had to carry it. My blood was boiling.

Who does that?

Even if it was common ground and not someones personal property, wouldn't you think about the fact that very soon, it will be a land fill that makes the entire street will smell like sharts?

  1. Boo... I really hate when people let their dogs poop in our yard. Which is the main reason I stopped walking Trixie regularly. Even if they do it close to the road, it still makes me mad.

  2. Love the sign. I hate it when people don't pick up. It's your job if you have a dog. Good on ya!

  4. We have been going through the same situation with our common ground. We have a round about filled with grass and a lot of the neighbors use this as a poop stop. I'm fine with that part, we take our dog to this spot all the time. The problem is so do a lot of other people and it really is disgusting. I'm about to throw my own sign up. I just don't know how some people can leave HUGE piles of poop laying there and walk away. One day I was walking our dog and we ran out of the bags we usually use but our neighborhood has those stands around it so I figured I would get one from there. Well of course my dog poops right there near someones yard and i go to get one and it's empty. I felt so bad that i walked all the way to the other side of the neighborhood to get a bag and then walked all the way back bc I really didn't want to make anyone mad. It makes me nervous just thinking about if people saw me walk away but not come back.

  7. These web sites have some great signs. I came across this awhile back while looking for one for ourselves

    In our neighborhood these signs are everywhere, even though three parks in the area have baggie dispensers people still fail to clean up after their pets. It is very fristrating that grown people have no sense. Whenever I am out walking I carry at least 5 bags for my 2 dogs and if I see someone letting their dogs do the buisness I offer them a bag, most of the time they are quit embaressed.

    Hopefull the sign gets the messgae across to them

  8. Hey I saw your post. Check into the laws around your area. The area I live in which is MN but it is illegal for them to leave it. In my area they can get a fine. Check into it. Its just rude for them to do that.

  9. that is so sick! Why do people do that stuff? I think you get a fine for not picking up dog poo where we live.

  10. That is crazy that people don't clean up after their dogs...it's common courtesy, whether or not its private property!! Good job with the sign...

  11. Love the sign. We live in a gated and HOA community and there are signs and trash bag/trashcan stations everywhere. If a neighbor sees you not cleaning up after your dog, you get a noticed put on your front door, haha. Maybe you could try that if your lovely neighbor doesn't take the hint :).

  12. People honest to God have no manners. We lived in a house once where a neighbor would let their dog do this every single time. It pissed me off. We got a dog a few months before moving and as pay back I let our dog visit their lawn

    Y'all are better people then me though because I would have put the bag on their front step.
